We're independent, not paid by hospitals or insurance companies, and built HospitalCost because millions of patients on high-deductible plans have no practical way to compare what hospitals charge. If your work touches those patients — as their broker, their employer, their advocate, or the journalist writing the story — there's probably a way we can help each other.

Citing our data in a paper or policy brief

Our data is compiled from federal sources (CMS Hospital Price Transparency, Hospital Compare, HCAHPS, Cost Reports, IRS 990). Every number on the site is traceable to a primary source. Email for methodology, citation guidance, or custom extracts.

For hospitals

If you work at a hospital and something about your data looks wrong, incomplete, or out of date on our site, we want to hear about it. We don't edit numbers without verification, but we do investigate every reported discrepancy and correct errors where the source data supports it. Email richard@hospitalcost.com with the hospital name and the specific page or price in question.

Something else in mind?

If you see a way to work together that isn't on this page, email us. We respond same business day and say yes to most partnerships that help patients make better decisions.
